Joy Brooke Fairfield is a director and producer dedicated to supporting the development of new work that centers the lives and stories of marginalized people. Currently an assistant professor at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN (Chickasaw/Choctaw land), Dr. Fairfield has trained at Harvard (BA), NYU (MA), Stanford (PhD), the SITI Company, Dell’ Arte International, Double Edge Ensemble, Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Arts Research, American Conservatory Theatre/SF, Michael Howard Studios and La Pocha Nostra. They are an alumnx of the Drama League Director’s Project at the Hangar Theatre and a member of SDC. In addition to training as an intimacy choreographer, Dr. Fairfield writes about the practice and its theories, including editing a special section in the Journal for Dramatic Theory & Criticism
